Fairport Group Ltd has committed to raising £30,000 for North West Cancer Research in 2023 to support beloved staff member Mel, who has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma. 

To coincide with their 30th Anniversary, the team at Fairport has set themselves a target of £30,000 to support life-saving cancer research projects across our region. 

Help the team reach their target, as they take on a series of fundraising activities throughout the year, with staff taking part in a number of grueling challenges such as the three peaks, skydives and Liverpool to Leeds bike ride, all while they support their colleague Mel. 

Mel was diagnosed with cancer around Christmas 2021 and is receiving treatment at Blackpool Hospital. Following a recent transplant procedure and stay in hospital, Mel is now at home and recovering.

After 25 years of service at Fairport Containers, Mel has adapted his role to be office based with lighter duties throughout his illness. The company has supported him through his diagnosis and treatment, helping to organise events and arrange funding whilst helping him adjust to a new routine.
